What the symptom does and does not tell you
A leaking shower pan symptom does not identify the source on its own: water can travel from a connection or another part of the enclosure. Obtain assessment before deciding whether to replace the base alone or the broader shower. If a larger project is needed, use the opportunity to reconsider entry height and standing space.
Can a new pan be installed without changing the walls?
That depends on how the existing wall assembly meets the pan and what removal disturbs. A sound connection may require opening lower wall areas. A pan-only plan should not assume those interfaces can remain untouched.

Ask the assessing professional to distinguish the observed condition from a suspected cause, and to explain what further access is needed.
