Start with how you bathe
Senior bathroom remodeling should respond to the person's preferences and abilities rather than age alone. Discuss what currently feels difficult: stepping into a tub, standing for a shower, reaching controls or drying off. Include the person who will use the room in choosing seating and support positions, and think about whether assistance may be useful later.
Is a walk-in tub automatically the right choice?
No. Its seated fill-and-drain routine suits some people and not others. A shower with suitable seating and a manageable entry may be preferable. Compare both through the user's actual bathing routine.
Bring a usable project brief
- Describe who uses the bathing area and what is difficult about the present arrangement.
- Bring room measurements or photos and identify the fixtures you hope to retain.
- Separate must-have changes from preferences that can adapt to the measured space.
